Tien Nguyen graduated in 2021 with his bachelor’s in business administration with a specialization in Agribusiness and a minor in Disabilities in Society. His four years at UF consisted of studying abroad in Fiji to learn about Sustainability and Ecotourism, going to Ecuador and Peru with the MEDLIFE organization, serving as a mentor for TSIC Alachua County, and consulting for small businesses in Panama with Global Business Brigades. After his bachelor’s degree, Tien pursued a master’s in Fisheries and Aquatic Science at UF to gain technical knowledge on rearing and reproducing fish in captivity. During his last semester in 2021, he secured a lab position with a UF graduate Professor named Frank Chapman to run a snapper and grouper project. Tien kept the relationship with Dr. Chapman to continue his master’s degree by developing a thesis/ technical paper: “Potential and Feasibility of Snapper Fish Farm in Florida.” After finishing six years at UF, Tien is back in Naples, Florida, and starting his sustainable fish farm with his two business partners. The fish farm will grow snapper to feed Florida’s fish market. Tien enjoys traveling and hammocking under the Naples Pier in his free time.
