Mary is from Marion County and graduated from Forest High School/Marion Technical Institute in 2016. She graduated with her Bachelor of Social Work in 2019 and her master’s in social work in 2020. Also, Mary obtained a Leadership in Executive and Administration Development certificate in the Spring of 2020 and a Professional Certification in Human Trafficking Prevention and Intervention. She is a school social worker for Marion County Public Schools, providing elementary and middle school services. She is working towards attaining her LCSW by 2025. Mary has raised guide dog puppies in training for the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind. She completed her fifth puppy, Jane, who was released due to minor allergies and adopted by Mary. Jane now volunteers as a therapy dog at the local hospital. Mary serves children/young adults with special needs with Shine Ministry at her church. Also, she volunteers with the Verb Kind, going to Marion County’s Juvenile Detention Center and spending time speaking love and truth over the individuals there. Mary loves to travel and has been to eleven countries, including her study abroad experience in ‘the land under’ Australia during her undergraduate studies, thanks to Leaders for Life! Fun fact: She and Hannah Kilbride, another 2016 fellow, were roommates for two years at FSU and remain close friends.
