Mercinda attends Weir High School with a 3.98 GPA and is dually enrolled at the College of Central Florida.  She participates in the Cambridge Program, Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Speech and Debate Club. She is the President of the National Honor Society,

She has a crazy love for music and has participated in and achieved several awards in high school. Mercinda received numerous honors from the Debate Club as early as 9^th grade.  She volunteered at her town’s Vacation Bible School and as a nursery volunteer, serving at her church. Her love for music overshadows all else as she will pursue a doctorate in music education.  “Attributes of musicians create great people,” says Mercinda, who wants to play a part in honing the music skills of students pursuing careers as doctors, lawyers, and scientists, helping them enhance their musical ability and igniting persistence to define their dreams. Studies show that music majors comprise the highest % of accepted medical students at 66%.  She plans to attend Florida State University.
