As a Crystal River High School senior, Sophia ranked 5/262 in her class. She is a certified Biotechnician Assistant and would like to pursue a career in biomedical engineering. She is involved in the Dance Marathon and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers at the University of Florida.
Her extracurriculars include ten years as a Girl Scout, participating on the varsity swim team and varsity tennis, and working as a lifeguard. Sophia also spent time involved with the Student School Spirit Council, volunteering at the Family Resource Center, and the Youth Leadership Citrus Project, Lead the Way. Sophia also volunteered at the Key Training Center, where she helped provide a vision for all with disabilities to enjoy community life without discrimination.
Sophia sees leadership qualities such as “responsibility, inspiration, adaptability, effective communication, and humility.” She dreams of someday working at Johnson and Johnson to develop technological advances to improve robotics, prosthetics, and new medications. She attends the University of Florida.
